New Delhi, Feb 1 - After a long hiatus from movies, Palash Sen, the lead vocalist of popular band Euphoria, will be seen as the lead actor in Manish Jha's 'Mumbai Cutting'.

'I am doing the lead role in 'Mumbai Cutting', which is based on the Mumbai monsoons,' Palash told IANS. On being prodded a little, he replied, 'I am sorry but I can't reveal any further details about the story.'

Palash, who was present at the launch of Radio City 91.1 FM's reality talent hunt show, 'RC Live', last exhibited his acting prowess in Meghna Gulzar's 'Filhaal' in 2002.

On what drew him back to acting after so long, he admitted that the script of 'Mumbai Cutting' was extremely good and gripping.

'I am not an actor so I don't feel the need to run after roles. After 'Filhaal', this was the best script I came across. It was a nice opportunity to get back to acting and I just grabbed the offer,' he said.

The film is slated for release at the end of March or the first week of April and will mark the debut of Palash's co-star in the film, Samreen Zaidi.

But, for the moment, Palash is upbeat about the Feb 25 release of 'Redhoom', a compilation of Euphoria's 12 most popular songs.

Regarding the band's decision to incorporate woman members, Palash said: 'We already had female backups in our previous album 'Mehfuz'. It was only about bringing the ladies from the studio to the stage. They are very talented and the interesting fact is that all three of them are from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in Delhi.'

Euphoria's next original album will be released during August.

Palash, a doctor by profession, is equally excited about being a judge for 'RC Live', a nationwide hunt for India's best Hindi band on radio.

'I am happy to be a judge for this event. The best part about having a talent hunt on radio is that the listeners cannot see the contestants. They can only hear the voice and so judge the contestants purely on the basis of their talent,' Palash commented.

'TV talent hunt shows use irrelevant crying and drama to gain TRPs in the garb of hunting for talent which is not pleasant.'

Palash has two children, Kinshuk and Kyna. Asked whether he would push his children to follow his family tradition of being doctors or would let them follow their desire, Palash replied, 'Everybody asks me this and I always tell them that I will let my children do whatever they want in their life...

'...but only once they become doctors!'
