47 killed in Rajasthan water tank collapse

"'The people sitting on the tank were watching a wrestling competition held as part of a local festival. All of them fell into the tank (when it collapsed), which had around three to four feet of water,' Bharatput district collector R. Venkateshwaran told IANS. "
 
Jaipur, Aug 27 - Forty-seven people were killed and 30 injured when a water tank on which they were sitting collapsed in Bharatpur Sunday.

The incident occurred at around six p.m. when a roof of a ground-level reservoir collapsed in Kama town, over 170 km from here.

'The people sitting on the tank were watching a wrestling competition held as part of a local festival. All of them fell into the tank (when it collapsed), which had around three to four feet of water,' Bharatput district collector R. Venkateshwaran told IANS.

Out of the injured, 22 have been discharged from the hospital after first aid, he added.
