"'The officials accused by the CBI are from the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) group, and have nothing to do with the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group. "

New Delhi, Sep 11 - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday registered a case against four former officials of Reliance Infocomm for allegedly permitting incoming international calls through illegal means.

All the accused - identified as Manoj Modi, Akhil Gupta, A. Shankar and Pankaj Panwar - were part of the telecom major when it was under Mukesh Ambani.

A Reliance Communications spokesperson said: 'The reported criminal case registered by the CBI pertains to the alleged rerouting of international calls prior to the reorganisation of the Reliance group, at which point of time Reliance Infocomm was under the previous management.

'The officials accused by the CBI are from the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) group, and have nothing to do with the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group.

'Modi heads the retail business of RIL and Shankar takes care of the government relations for RIL in Delhi.'
