New Delhi, Sep 26 - Mexican Vice Minister of Economy Alejandro Gonzalez Tuesday confirmed his country's participation in the 17th International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF) to be held here in February 2007.
Around 30-35 countries are expected to participate in the IETF 2007, with Japan as the partner country.
The flagship event of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Gonzalez said Mexico would focus on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector.
'The decision to participate in the IETF had been made as it will give the perfect opportunity to the Mexican SMEs to showcase themselves and have business tie ups with Indian and other companies,' the minister said during a meeting hosted by the CII.
There were over four million SMEs in Mexico.
In India to discuss the opportunities for collaboration between India and Mexico enterprises, the minister spoke about the complementarities between the Indian and the Mexican economies.
The Ministry of External Affairs Joint Secretary R. Viswanathan expressed hope that the visiting Mexican delegation would find ample opportunities for increasing business with India.
'Indian companies have been investing in Mexico and providing employment to the local population by hiring Mexicans to run its business,' said Viswanathan.
