Gurgaon, April 17 - A man Thursday escaped death after a 12-feet-long iron rod impaled him when he fell at a construction site here, police said.

The victim has been identified as Rinku, 30, a resident of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh.

He was working here at the construction site of Ansal Housing in sector 86 and fell from the second floor upon an iron rod -, a police officer told IANS.

The rod passed through Rinku's left hip. He was admitted to a private hospital where he was operated upon. His condition is stable.

The rod was taken out, said a doctor who performed the operation.

We are waiting for the statement of the victim. As of now, he is not in a position to record it, the police officer added.
