"A complaint was lodged against Mahato for the objectionable remarks."
Kolkata, May 2 - The Election Commission Friday issued show cause notice to Trinamool Congress legislator Srikanto Mahato for describing former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharje and CPI-M leader Mohammad Salim as murderers.

Mahato, a state lawmaker from Salboni in West Midnapore district, made the comments against the duo at a Lok Sabha election public meeting at Chandrakone Road Wednesday.

He had also allegedly used foul language against Salim.

A complaint was lodged against Mahato for the objectionable remarks.

A show cause notice has been issued by Assistant Returning Officer, Jhargram - parliamentary constituency, said the office of the chief electoral officer here.
