Jammu, May 5 - Timely detection of a landmine by Border Security Force - troopers in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district near the international border averted a major tragedy in the area Monday.

BSF sources told IANS that troopers of the 9th battalion detected an anti-personnel mine at Regal in Rajpura area of Kathua Monday morning.

The international border in Jammu and Kashmir is guarded by the BSF while the Line of Control - between the Indian and Pakistan-administered Kashmir is guarded by the Indian Army.
