"The Jammu Bar Association had launched an agitation against these police personnel for allegedly manhandling a lawyer."
Jammu, May 8 - Bowing to pressure from lawyers, the Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday suspended three policemen including two officers for allegedly manhandling a lawyer here.

An order issued by the state home department Thursday said: In terms of the police rules, pending enquiry into their conduct, the following police personnel - Gandhi Nagar station house officer - Arun Janwal, assistant sub-inspector, Pritam Chand and selection grade constable Vikram Choudhary - are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect.

The Jammu Bar Association had launched an agitation against these police personnel for allegedly manhandling a lawyer.

The local lawyers, who called for a Jammu shutdown Tuesday, had demanded suspension of these policemen before an enquiry was ordered into the allegations of manhandling of a lawyer by them.
