Beijing, May 10 - At least two people were killed and four injured in an explosion in a coal mine in China's Heilongjiang province Friday, authorities said.

The blast occurred at around 2 p.m. at Xintie mine in Qitaihe City when 80 miners were working underground, Xinhua quoted the local authorities as saying.

Till late evening, two people were confirmed dead, four injured were in hospital. Others escaped safely.

The incident was being investigated.
