Bhubaneswar, May 10 - A woman Maoist, carrying a cash reward of Rs.200,000 on her head, surrendered before the Odisha Police on Saturday, an officer said.

Jambo Mandingi, 25, surrendered at the district headquarters town of Koraput, about 500 km from Bhubaneswar, Inspector General of Police - Yashwant Jethwa told IANS.

Mandingi, a resident of Rajengipadar village in Narayanpatna area of the district, joined the Communist Party of India - Maoist in 2009 and had received training in the use of different weapons, improvised explosive devices and landmines.

She is a central regional committee member of the left party and is suspected to be involved in several crimes, Jethwa said.

The Odisha government earlier had announced a cash reward of two lakh rupees for information regarding her.

Koraput is one of the strongholds of Maoists in this state.
