Chennai, May 16 - Counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha election began in 42 centres in Tamil Nadu Friday.

According to officials, the postal ballots were taken up first and will be followed by votes registered in the electronic voting machines (EVM).

A total of 845 candidates were in the fray for the 39 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The polling percentage in Tamil Nadu was around 73 percent.
