"The group also owns an integrated multimedia and entertainment group in Hong Kong -- PCCW Media Ltd, which operates now TV, an IPTV operation."
Bangalore, May 29 - High-profile technocrat B.G. Srinivas, who quit Indian IT bellwether Infosys Ltd, will soon join PCCW Ltd, a Hong Kong-based firm, with interests in telecom, media, IT solutions, property development and investment.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Srinivas Bangalore Gangaiah as our group managing director with effect from July 14, PCCW Ltd said in a statement from Hong Kong Thursday.
Infosys Wednesday said the resignation of Srinivas as president and board member will be effective June 10.
Srinivas was touted to be in contention for the new executive post at Infosys, as an internal candidate to succeed incumbent and co-founder S.D. Shibulal, who retires early 2015.
But now at PCCW, he will succeed George Chan, who retires from the PCCW group's executive post on completion of his contract with the company July 7.
On behalf of the board of directors, I warmly welcome Srinivas. I am confident that his immense IT knowledge, experience in service-oriented organisations, leadership skills and international perspective will provide our goup with additional momentum, PCCW chairman Richard Li said in the statement.
Srinivas is expected to develop PCCW's media and IT business locally and internationally.
Prior to his agreeing to serve as our group managing director, Srinivas worked for the last 15 years with Infosys. He also held several leadership roles at ABB, the Swiss multinational group before joining Infosys in 1999, the statement added.
PCCW holds a majority interest in HKT, Hong Kong's premier telecom service provider.
The group also owns an integrated multimedia and entertainment group in Hong Kong -- PCCW Media Ltd, which operates now TV, an IPTV operation.
As the provider of Hong Kong's first quadruple-play experience, PCCW offers a range of innovative media content and services across four delivery platforms -- fixed-line, broadband Internet access, TV and mobile.
