Baghdad, June 3 - At least 19 people were killed and 43 injured Tuesday in shelling in the militant-seized city of Fallujah in Iraq's western province of Anbar, a medical source said.

Air strikes, artillery and mortar shelling on several neighbourhoods in the city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of the capital Baghdad, left 15 people dead and 40 wounded, Xinhua quoted a source from the city hospital as saying Tuesday.

In addition, a barrage of mortar rounds hit the city municipal office, killing four people and wounding three others, the source said.

Anbar province has been the scene of fierce clashes that flared up after Iraqi police dismantled an anti-government protest site outside Ramadi last December.
