Dhaka, June 26 - Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's visit is important for Bangladesh as it will hopefully open a new horizon in bilateral ties, a leading Bengali daily said Thursday.

Noting that there was no alternative to good relations, the paper said the three-day visit that began Wednesday would help resolve all contentious issues between the two countries.
It said the new BJP-led government in India was keen to give a new dimension to relations with Bangladesh.
The paper said Sushma Swaraj's visit, within a month of change of government in New Delhi, reflected India's positive mentality towards Dhaka.
In an obvious reference to the BJP's majority in the Lok Sabha, the paper earlier said a strong government in India had made Bangladesh hopeful that New Delhi would take initiatives to resolve all contentious issues.
