Tehran, July 14 - Iran and Russia plan to enhance cooperation in the field of natural gas by establishing a joint committee, a media report said here Monday.

The committee will oversee equipment provisions, technology transfer, participation in oil and gas projects in the form of finance, as well as plans for foreign investment, Xinhua quoted Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company Hamidreza Araqi said.

Iran's NIGC and Russia's Gazprom will also be a part of the joint committee.

Iran, one of the world's top gas reserve holders, sits on more than 33 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
