New York, Aug 13 - Actress Lauren Bacall, who featured in films like To Have and Have Not and Key Largo, has died, her former husband Humphrey Bogart's estate said. She was 89.

Bacall died Tuesday at her home here after suffering a stroke, reports huffingtonpost.com.

With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall, the Bogart Estate Twitter handle said.

Bacall and Bogart met while filming 1944 movie To Have And Have Not. The couple married in 1945, had two children, and remained together until Bogart's death in 1957.

Bacall stopped acting for almost 20 years after his death.

She later married actor Jason Robards Jr., with whom she had another child. Robards died in 2000.

Born Betty Joan Perske on Sep 16, 1924, the actress had 72 film credits to her name. She began taking modeling and acting classes as a teen, and landed several roles in theatre.
