Los Angeles, Aug 15 - Actor David James Elliott will play the role of late Hollywood Western icon John Wayne in an upcoming Dalton Trumbo biopic.

The former Jag star will portray Wayne in the biopic, alongside Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston, who will take on the titular role, reports contactmusic.com.

The film will tell the story of the Oscar-winning screenwriter, who penned 1960 epic Spartacus and Paul Newman's classic Exodus.

It will be directed by Meet the Fockers' Jay Roach, also stars Dame Helen Mirren, Diane Lane and John Goodman.
