New Delhi, Aug 16 - President Pranab Mukherjee Saturday extended greetings to the government and people of Indonesia on the eve of their national day.

Indonesia celebrates its national day Aug 17.

In a message to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the president said: On behalf of the government and the people of India and on my own behalf, I have the pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and to the government and friendly people of Indonesia on your national day.

I take this opportunity to share my satisfaction at the growing strategic partnership between our two countries and our close cooperation on strategic, defence and security, economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and regional issues, Mukherjee added.

He also said that he was confident that the two democratic and multi-religious societies will continue to strengthen the bilateral friendship and cooperation in areas of common interest.

I wish the friendly people of Indonesia a happy celebration and peace and prosperity in the coming years, he said.
