Lisbon, Aug 24 - Sporting Lisbon beat Arouca 1-0 at the Alvalade Stadium here in the second round of the Portuguese League.

Highly-rated Sporting winger Carlos Mane scored in the 90th minute before earning a yellow card Saturday night, reports Xinhua.

Manchester United loanee Nani wasted a missed a spot kick in the 63rd minute and was replaced in the 77th.

Sporting were confident despite having started the season with a draw at Coimbra, and were pleased to welcome back Nani after he left Manchester United to join his old club on a season long loan.

Sporting almost scored in the first half on at least two occasions, through Fredy Montero and Adrien Silva, but their efforts were saved by opposition goalkeeper Goicoechea.
