Kolkata, Jan 30 - Three villagers were injured when armed Maoist guerrillas attacked a local club in West Midnapore district of West Bengal, police said Saturday.
Eight rebels opened fire at the villagers late Friday when they assembled to see a folk theatre arranged in the premises of a local club. The incident took place at Dhanshola village under Shalboni police station.
'We have got the information about the attack early this - morning and immediately sent our force to the spot. We have not registered any case so far as our officers have still not returned from the location,' a police officer told IANS.
He said no one has been arrested so far.
'The Maoists fled the scene after firing. One of the injured villagers was taken to a Kolkata hospital as his condition was serious,' the officer said.
