Shimla, Jan 28 - The election to choose a new Bharatiya Janata Party - president for Himachal Pradesh, slated for Jan 30, has been postponed, a party spokesman said Thursday.

'A decision to postpone the election for the post of the state president was taken this - evening at a meeting of party leaders held in Chandigarh,' the spokesman Ashok Kapatia told IANS. <br><br>
He said the meeting was attended among other by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, former union minister Shanta Kumar and state party in charge Satya Pal Jain. <br><br>
He refused to cite the reason for postponing the election as the election process was almost complete. <br><br>
Former chief minister of Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshiari was appointed the party's central observer for the election. <br><br>
