"Supported by Kellogg School of Management, The Wharton School and London Business School, ISB is one of its kind in Asia."

Hyderabad, Dec 5 - On his first visit to the Indian School of Business (ISB) here, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Tuesday that he was impressed with the institution, its faculty and its research work.

'This is my first visit to ISB. I went around the campus and was impressed with this wonderful facility, the top class faculty and research done here,' he said.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the first global logistics summit organised by the Centre for Global Logistics and Manufacturing Strategies (GLAMS) of ISB in association with the Hero Mindmine Institute.

He also unveiled a plaque to commemorate completion of five years of ISB.

'I complement all those who are associated with creation of this wonderful facility. It is a team effort and a fine example of public private partnership,' he said, calling for more such partnerships to create 100 such campuses across India.

Stating that many institutes were created in the past but could not be sustained, he hoped that ISB would continue to grow with investment in research and people. 'The plant is beginning to yield results. We hope to see lot more creativity and innovative thinking,' he added.

Raja Gupta, chairman ISB, announced that two more centres of excellence would be set up at the institute, taking the total number of such centres to six.

He recalled that the idea of ISB was conceived in 1995 and it was launched in 2001 with 128 students. 'ISB today has 418 students and soon the numbers will go up to 560 making it the fifth biggest business school in the world.'

He said the faculty of ISB was being increased by five every year and the students who passed out from this school were doing well.

Founded by a group of Fortune 500 entrepreneurs and academicians in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh government, the research-driven, independent management institution is aimed at grooming future leaders for India and the world.

The school's governing board comprises business leaders, entrepreneurs and academicians from some of the world's leading business and management education institutions.

Supported by Kellogg School of Management, The Wharton School and London Business School, ISB is one of its kind in Asia.

It offers postgraduate programmes in management, post-doctoral programmes as well as executive education programmes for business executives.
