Philippines typhoon toll reaches 43

Manila, Sep 30 - The toll from typhoon Nesat in the Philippines rose to 43, Xinhua reported Friday. Thirty other people are still missing.

Nesat made landfall in the northern province of Aurora Tuesday.

Benito Ramos, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said 44 people were injured in the storm, which brought strong winds and heavy rains that flooded many areas in northern Philippines.

Over 980,000 people in 33 provinces have been affected. Damage to agriculture and infrastructure was estimated at nearly four billion pesos -.
