New Delhi, April 28 - Eight girls, a majority of them minors, were rescued from two Delhi brothels, police said Saturday.

The girls, aged between 15 and 20 years, were rescued Friday night in two separate raids from the capital's red light area G.B. Road on the complaints of NGO Rescue Foundation and West Bengal Police.

Of the eight girls, six belong to West Bengal and one each are from Odisha and Maharashtra.

We received complaints from the NGO that some girls were confined in a brothel while a team of West Bengal Police also approached us requesting assistance to rescue a girl from another nearby brothel, said a police official.

We raided both the brothels and rescued all the girls, added the official.

According to police, the girls belong to poor families and were brought to Delhi on the pretext of lucrative employment but were instead sold to the brothels.
