"A spokesperson for lawyers in Bulsar said no advocate will henceforth represent Jayant Patel and his family in this case."

Ahmedabad, May 10 - Five people have been arrested on charges of assaulting an advocate inside a courtroom in Gujarat's Bulsar town.

Policemen and other lawyers hastily rescued Mukesh Patel Tuesday following the violence after he had sought an adjournment in a case involving a squabbling husband and wife.

The husband, Jayant Patel, and his family members allegedly led the attack thinking that the lawyer was preventing an out of court settlement.

Mukesh Patel later claimed the attackers had threatened to kill him.

A spokesperson for lawyers in Bulsar said no advocate will henceforth represent Jayant Patel and his family in this case.

Jayant Patel, a resident of Vaghai in Bulsar district, got married two years ago. A few months back, his wife left him, alleging she was beaten up by in-laws. She is seeking alimony.
