"The chartered Whitejets flight left Sao Paulo's Guarulhos airport and arrived in Resistencia half an hour behind schedule."

Rio de Janeiro, Oct 3 - Brazil's national football team received a scare on the eve of its international friendly against Argentina when a violent storm forced its Resistencia-bound flight to deviate 300km from its original route.

Relieved players and officials cheered and exchanged high-fives upon landing in the northern Argentine city Tuesday night, Xinhua reported.

We encountered a very strong line of instability and had to deviate the flight-path via Paraguay, the flight's captain Carlos Henrique Bandeira said.

The chartered Whitejets flight left Sao Paulo's Guarulhos airport and arrived in Resistencia half an hour behind schedule.

One of the flight staff said she had never been so nervous during her 11-year career as a flight attendant.
