New Delhi, Oct 9 - In the wake of the arrest of 22 Indian fishermen off the coast of Qatar, India Tuesday said its embassy in the gulf nation's capital Doha is in touch with the local authorities and is extending all assistance in facilitating the legal process.

Our embassy in Doha is in touch with the local authorities and is extending all necessary assistance in the due legal process that is underway, official sources in India's external affairs ministry said here.

Twenty-two Indian fishermen in seven boats have been arrested off the coast of Qatar at Al Ruwais over months.

They are currently being detained at the Al Shawal police station, the sources said.
