Digvijay Singh says he did no wrong on Treasure Island : India

New Delhi, Oct 19 - Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh Friday said he was ready to face punishment if he had done anything wrong in permissions related to Indore's Treasure Island Mall. His remarks came after the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a CBI probe into the case.

Digvijay Singh said on microblogging site Twitter that Treasure Island was the first mall in Indore. Permission was given for its construction during his tenure as the chief minister of the state.

The Congress general secretary said the Economic Offences Wing - of the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Madhya Pradesh government had already investigated the matter, but no case was made against him.

Treasure Island is Indore's first mall, and is now also very popular. Permission was given for it during my tenure as chief minister. The BJP government's Economic Offences Wing has already investigated the matter and found nothing against me, Digvijay Singh said.

Singh said he welcomed the order of the high court to investigate the matter. Punish me if I have done anything wrong, he said.

Digvijay Singh said that a minister in the BJP government had approved the decisions that were earlier taken by his government in this matter.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court Thursday ordered a CBI probe against Digvijay Singh and five others in a case of alleged irregularities in the construction of Indore famous shopping mall.

The Economic Offences Wing of the state government had earlier probed allegations that the mall was built on a residential plot, and that undue concessions were given by the state government for its construction.

The EoW filed a closure report, saying that no case could be made out against Digvijay Singh and five others, including the then housing minister.

The complainant, Mahesh Garg, challenged the closure report in the Indore Bench of the high court, saying that the EoW, as a wing of the state government, had not conducted a fair probe.
