Ratnagiri -, Aug 19 - Nearly a day after seven people swimming off a beach in Ratnagiri district went missing, rescue teams are still looking for four whose bodies have not been found yet, police said Sunday.

Seven people had gone missing off the Ganpatipule beach in Ratnagiri Saturday evening.

Three bodies were fished out with the help of the fire brigade late Saturday. However, search operation is still underway for the four others, who are still missing, an official from Jaigad police station told IANS.

Scores of people had come for a picnic to the beach owing to the extended weekend and were seen venturing into the deep sea, police said.

According to the police, those drowned were not part of a single group but belonged to two or three groups. The three bodies that were fished out of the ocean were identified by their friends.

These were identified as Vinayak Rangapure and Amit Sole from Solapur district and Sanga Avle from Panvel in Navi Mumbai. They were in the age group of 26 to 30.

Jaigad police have registered a case of accidental death.
