Mexico City, April 16 - A four-year-old girl who disappeared April 1 in the city of Texcoco has been found in El Salvador and is in perfect health, the Mexican Foreign Relations Secretariat said.

Valeria Hernandez de Jesus was lured away from her mother, a vendor in Texcoco's Plaza Bicentenario, by a man, media reports said.

The little girl was found wandering the streets of the Salvadoran city of Sonsonate by police.

Mexican officials received information Friday that the girl had been spotted in the streets of Sonsonate, located about 90 km from San Salvador, the Foreign Relations Secretariat said in a statement.

Instructions were given to the Mexican Embassy, which proceeded to take action to find the minor, who was located with the assistance of the National Civilian Police -, the secretariat said.

Valeria was taken by police to the immigration service office in the port city of Acajutla and later handed over to a child welfare agency, the secretariat said.

Nelson Vladimir Valencia Masin, a 43-year-old Salvadoran citizen, was arrested Saturday on kidnapping charges, police said.

Investigators are trying to determine how the little girl reached El Salvador, officials said.
