Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, and Singapore (July 2, 2007) -- SAGE is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Infection Control Nurses Association to publish the British Journal of Infection Control (BJIC) from September 2007.

As the world’s fifth largest journals publisher, SAGE has continued to invest in a flourishing STM publishing programme to complement its established reputation as the market leader in the social sciences. SAGE publishes over 460 journals, over 150 of which are in the science, technical and medical fields, including influential publications such as The American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Psychopharmacology, and the Journal of Composite Materials.

Published bi-monthly, the British Journal of Infection Control offers a significant contribution to the critical issues around infection prevention and control, infectious diseases and public health that frequently dominate political and public discussion. In recent months the journal has featured topics such as extremely-drug resistant Tuberculosis, hand hygiene developments, and the MMR vaccine debate.

The journal has a rapidly developing, multi-professional author and readership base, which includes infection prevention and control professionals, public health and health protection specialists, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and primary care professionals.

“SAGE and the Infection Control Nurses Association will both be working together to provide an essential resource for all health professionals in infection prevention, in order to advance the evidence base in this important field,” commented Stephen Barr, Managing Director, SAGE. He continued,

“We strive to be the natural home for authors, editors, and societies, and as such believe we offer a unique proposition to society partners, based on our ability to attract the best authors, and to increase the journal’s reach and dissemination globally through investment in cutting-edge online and marketing technologies. We see much potential to increase the number of high quality submissions to BJIC, and to raise the profile of the journal with health professionals internationally.”

Tracey Cooper, ICNA Editor adds, “I am delighted to report to our readers that the British Journal of Infection Control moves into a new phase in September 2007, as we embark on an exciting partnership with SAGE Publications. The ICNA believes this publishing partnership will allow us to strengthen and grow the reputation of the BJIC as a respected professional journal of value to all professionals interested in infection prevention and control. “

BJIC will be published by SAGE from September 2007. An official launch will be held at the 37th Annual Infection Control Conference 24-27 September. For further information visit the conference website
