WHAT:A press teleconference to announce and discuss the publication and findings from the first diploid human genome. Researchers at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) will discuss this latest sequence and analysis of a true diploid human genome from one individual—Dr. Venter. Since 2003, a small team of JCVI researchers led by Samuel Levy, Ph.D., have been conducting new sequencing and developing new analysis tools to construct this reference human genome. Many surprising secrets of the genome have been revealed in this latest analysis including a greater than expected number and type of genetic variation. Results will be published in PLoS Biology on September 4, 2007.

WHEN: September 3, 2007

Teleconference Dial in information:

Title: Venter CallStart Time: 10:00 am ET / 9:00 am CT / 8:00 am MT / 7:00 am PT

Conference telephone numbers: Participants: (719) 457-2728Participants: (800) 475-3716

To help ensure the conference begins in a timely manner, please dial in 5 to 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

WHO:Speakers/Participants on the call include:
