Gujarat toll is 84, 1,200 liquor dens shut
Ahmedabad, July 9 - Gujarat closed down 1,200 liquor dens and arrested over 800 illegal brewers in a massive crackdown as the death toll after drinking moonshine rose to 84 Thursday.

Businessman shot dead in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, May 6 - A businessman was shot dead here by motorcycle-borne assailants, who also took away from him a bag carrying cash, police and the victim's family said Wednesday.

Compensate kin of undertrial who died in custody: NHRC
New Delhi, May 1 - The National Human Rights Commission - has asked the Punjab government to pay the family of an undertrial Rs.100,000 for his death while in police custody.
